SnapShot, an item on the Tools Menu, is a tool which provides a quick glance at a number of different data in one convenient place. Seeing a list of names that go with the various data is a simple as clicking any hyperlink available on the dialog.

SnapShot may be started either from the Tools Menu, or it may be selected as your Startup Option so that this screen will always greet you when CMD starts up. Note that there will be a short delay while CMD calculates all the data you can view on this dialog as it starts up. In our tests with a file with over 4300 names and 2700 families, the delay was approximately four seconds. Chances are your list will only take a moment or two.

Special Notes

A few items are worth some special notes to make sure you get the most use out of SnapShot:

•Today's Birthdays are placed first in the Results List on the far right edge of the dialog. To see birthdays for any day over the next week, click on the date you wish to view and the names in the Results List will be immediately updated. If you want to see other dates, such as Anniversaries or Joining dates, open the Dates combo box that says Birthdate located just above the dates list and select the date you wish to view. Click on the specific date for which you want to view the names.

•Beside both Regular Attenders and Regular Contributors in the box in the upper left corner, there is also a "Not" link you can click to see the list of names who are not regular attenders or regular contributors.

•There is a large button that says View Today's Prayer List that will bring up the Prayer List Grid that will show you all the current prayer list names.

•In the lower left corner of the dialog, there is a drop-down box with the label Field Tallies beside it. There are a number of fields listed in this combo box. Open and select the field that you would like to view. For our example, we'll use Membership Status, which is displayed by default when you first come in to SnapShot.

In the list box below it, you'll notice that each of the Membership Status items that have been selected in your data file are listed along with the total number of your names who have been marked for each of the items listed. To view the names related to any menu item, click directly on the item you wish to view. The names will appear in the Results List on the right-hand side of the dialog.

Note that a blank item will likely appear at the top of most every field's list of items. This blank item may be clicked on as well as the listed items so that you can see the list of names for which a blank has been assigned to their name for this field.

To view the names associated with other fields, open the combo box that says Membership Status and select from among the other fields listed.

•There is a Name Search function that you can use to search the Results List. It functions in a similar manner to other Name Search functions in CMD.

Printing Names

A simple print function has been included which prints the list of the names that appear that are associated with the list you have selected. Note that this is only a simple name list but will be useful to give you a guide for names you might wish to update in your CMD file.

To print a list, click the Print button just above the Results List.
