Pictorial Church Directory Formats

There are several pictorial directory options that are available to you in CMD, which are selected using the Directory Format combo box that is available when Church Directory is selected as the Output Form. Your options:
•Format B with pictures. This option embeds the family picture along with the family information when Format B is printed. This allows for the printing of a single directory with both pictures and information, rather than the more traditional style of picture pages first, followed by the member information in text form. We suggest that you print this format in portrait mode in 2 columns.
•Pictorial. This option prints a pictorial directory fashioned after a traditional church pictorial directory. It prints 4 rows of 3 pictures with the names directly under the picture.
•Pictorial with Home Phone. This option is identical to the Pictorial option but adds the Home Phone number.
•5.5 x 8.5, one family per page. This option prints a single family's information on a half-page format. It provides room for holes to be punched so that these pages can be printed and distributed to your members to be placed in a small, 3-ring notebook. In the current CMD version, information that is to be included in the Driving Directions section is drawn from the Family Comments field.
To include driving directions, move your cursor to the beginning of a new line just after any current comments that are already entered in the Family Comments field in Enter/Modify/Delete Names. Start this new line with these characters: ~DIR~. All text following ~DIR~ to the end of the text in the Family Comments field will be deemed by CMD to be driving directions and will be included on this form.
When using Pictorial or Pictorial with Home Phone, names that appear under the picture are affected by the following parameters on the Print Control page of the Print Names dialog:
•Husband/Wife separator
•Font size and name
•Page Numbers
The following parameters have no effect in pictorial directory formats:
•Last Name in Bold
•Dependants on separate lines
•Status markers
•Printing to disk
In all cases, the husband/wife or other adults will be listed on the first line. Children will be listed on the second line. The home phone number, if selected on the Directory Format combo, will be printed as the last line. Only families with pictures will be included in the Pictorial or Pictorial with Home Phone directory outputs.
If the name lines that CMD formats for you are too long or do not read well, you can use the Pictorial Directory Definition option on the Utilities Menu to write in specific name text to be used for any family you choose as an override to the formatting done in Print Names.
You may also use Pictorial Directory Definition dialog as a means to quickly attach pictures to families.
