CMD Phone Apps

The free CMD Phone apps are designed to provide basic contact information access to your CMD's data through a browser-based app that resides on your host computer but is accessed from the outside through smart phones or tablets with web browsers. Note that these apps are sized for smart phones and will be small on a tablet. The web-based phone apps require the use of the proprietary web server, included with your 2015 program. For help on setting up the web server to enable the use of the CMD Phone Apps, click here.

There are two apps supplied with your CMD 2015 program: one for staff to use, and one for your general membership to use. They differ in the level of information that is displayed, and by the user names and passwords that are required to gain entry.

That means that both apps are fully password protected. The staff phone app uses same user names and passwords you assign for entrance into CMD as a staff member, and the member phone app uses user names and passwords that you assign on the Web Access Setup dialog Utility.

The staff phone app displays contact information plus Family Status, Date of Birth, and Age. Also, each of the contact info fields may be updated on the staff phone app with the changes immediately reflected in your data on the church's computer.

The member phone app is essentially an electronic church directory that is always up-to-date. The information that it displays is the same as you'd find in a printed church directory. Confidential addresses and phone numbers are not displayed on the member phone app just as with your CMD-generated printed church directory.

The phone apps require three things have been done in preparation for use:

1.The proprietary web server is functioning on the CMD data's host computer. See Web Server Setup for more information.

2.Your network's router has been set to direct incoming requests to use the phone apps to be sent to the web server, which in turns connects to CMD's data.

3.You have either a static IP address or a domain name that resolves to your church's office router/network. For more information on both the router settings and the IP address/domain name, see this page on our web site: http://www.softwareforministry.com/html/serverprep.html
