Postcards
<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: Printing Lists and Reports > Print Control tab page > Output Forms (Print Names) > Postcards |
To address postcards with names in your file, select the Postcards option on the Output Forms combo located on the Print Control page of the Print Namesdialog.
When you select postcards, there are a couple of additional setup choices you need to make from four categories:
•Normal Postcard. Select this item if you wish to print a standard postcard. When this item is selected, the next item, Print Return Address is enabled.
•Print Return Address. Check this item if you wish to have CMD print your church's return address on the postcard as well as the name to which the card is addressed. The return address that will be used is the one selected on the Return Address combo.
•Response Postcard. This selection uses the names in your file as the return address and prints the church's return address in the delivery position of the postcard. This allows you to generate response cards that are self-addressed and ready to go.
There are four different postcard selections possible in CMD 2020. Open the Postcard Selection combo box and select from:
•4 x 6 (Avery #5389 or equivalent). Two postcards per page are printed when 4 x 6 is selected, and you will tear the postcards off at the perforations when you get ready to mail them. Note that you can use plain stock instead of the Avery stock which is perforated along the boundaries of the 4 x 6 postcards. Simply use your paper cutter to cut away the side, and top & bottom edges, and then cut the cards in half. You'll end up with the same thing but at a much lower price.
•3.5 x 5.5 (by BlanksUSA #PC5B6). 3 postcards per page are printed when this option is chosen. As with the Avery forms above, you’ll have to tear the cards apart at the perfs to use them. You can get info about this postcard form at the BlanksUSA web site: www.blanksusa.com.
•USPS Pre-Stamped (3.5 x 5.5). These single, pre-stamped postcards that can be purchased from the USPS may be used in a stack and printed as a "page" in most printers.
•4.25 x 5.5 (Avery #3381 or equivalent). This option prints 4 postcards per page on a landscape orientation. As noted with the 4 x 6 postcards above, you can use plain card stock instead of the Avery stock. Simply use your paper cutter to cut the page in half on both the vertical and horizontal sides. You'll end up with the same thing but at a much lower price
Special Note: CMD does not have an option to print the information on the back of the cards for the Avery 3381 option. You'll need to use a template for this form with your word processor. You can download templates for Avery products from their web site free of charge.
Select either Center, Left, or Right according to the way your printer feeds the postcard stock.
Text entered in the Page Headline text box will be printed on the first line of each postcard where the name and address goes. An example of how this might be useful: If you wish to print postcards to all the parents of children in a particular SS Class/Division, you could enter "To the Parents of" in the Page Headline text box and that line will be printed on the postcard before it prints the actual name and address.
Once you address the postcards, you’ll likely want to print a message on the back of the postcards. You can use the Print Postcard Messages or Response Cards item on the Utilities Menu if you wish to print a simple message on the back of the USPS Pre-Stamped card
