SMS/Texting in CMD

CMD has SMS/Texting tools that you can use to send texts either to individuals from the Enter/Modify/Delete Names dialog, or you can send a group SMS/Text message from Print Names by selecting SMS/Text Message as the Output Form. This means you can select any group in your CMD database to whom you wish to send the group SMS/Text message.
In order to use CMD's SMS/Texting tools, you must sign up for an account on either or both of these two services:
•Twilio.com. This service charges $1/month for a required special phone number that you are assigned from which the text messages will come. This is the number that will appear as the caller ID when someone in your CMD database gets a text message from your church. Most text messages cost only $0.0075 per text message sent. This price may vary slightly from country-to-country. You can subscribe for a minimum of $20 worth of texts.
•Plivo.com. This service $0.80/month for your special phone number, and their cost per message is $0.0035 per text message sent. As with Twilio.com, Plivo.com's pricing varies a little based on the country and cell provider the receiving phone uses. Plivo.com requires a minimum of $25 worth of texts.
CMD has fields that allow entry of account information for both of these providers, and you can easily switch between them if you wish. We have provided space for both in case there is a temporary problem with one and you need to quickly switch to the other provider if you need to send out a critical notice as a text message. You do not have to subscribe to both. It's entirely up to you.
