Define External Bar Codes
<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: Utilities Menu > Define External Bar Codes |
If you wish to define a list of bar codes for use in tracking attendance that use a number other than CMD's internal file number, you can use the Define External Bar Codes dialog available as an option on the Utilities Menu.
These numbers might be from a key card or other pre-printed form that has a bar code with a number on it.
When this dialog appears, you will see a grid of names in your CMD file with the a column on the right edge of the grid that says Ext Bar Code. To define a numeric bar code for a name, first find the name and then click in the Ext Bar Code field for that name and type in the bar code number. You can either then click on another name to save what you've entered automatically, or you can click the Save button in the navigation bar just above the grid.
To search for a name, click the Name Search edit box located above and to the left of the grid, and start typing the first few letters of the last name. As you get close in the list, you can click directly on the name for whom to enter an external bar code. Then click in that name's Ext Bar Code field and type it in and save it.
Once you have defined these numbers, you can use them for attendance entry on the Mark Attendance dialog by selecting the Use External Bar Code # radio button just below the names grid on the dialog.
There are two choices for lists. Click the Print List in Bar Code Order button if you want to see the names for whom external bar codes have been assigned in the bar code order.
Click the Print List in Name Order button, however, if you wish to see the names for whom external bar codes have been assigned ordered by Last Name, First Name.
